Lebohang “Lebo M” Morake is a South African producer and composer most famous for arranging and performing music for The Lion King movies and stage productions. Lebo M went on to co-produce, co-write and perform numerous film soundtracks with Hans Zimmer, Jerry Goldsmith and James Newton - Howard. As a performer, Lebo M has featured as special guest on ALL Hans Zimmer World Tours including but not limited to HAVASI and Hollywood in Vienna special concert events. Lebo M later Produced The Lion KIng Production South Africa on its home coming first ever African content presentation. This was followed by Lebo M executive producing and composing the FIFA 2010 World Cup Opening and closing ceremonies in South Africa.

With the success of the Disney Animation feature released originally in 1994 the Lion King, Disney records released a Lebo M first solo album, Rhythm of the Pride Lands which included new additional compositions by Lebo M. The album went on to go multi platinum who’s songs written by Lebo M inspired The Lion King director Ms. Julie Taymor to commit to directing The Lion King Productions.

LEBO M’s songs became the classic songs now recognised the world over by no less than 90 million people as performed by Mufasa, Rafiki, Simba and Nala songs such as; HE LIVES IN YOU, SHADOWLANDS and ENDLESSNIGHT to name a few. He also contributed to the film's direct-to-video sequel The Lion King II: Simba's Pride. Known the world-over as ‘The Voice and Spirit of The Lion King’.

The Tony nominated, UK Ivor Novello and two-time SAMA award winner is mainly recognised for his work as a composer, arranger, co-producer and performer on Disney’s smash feature film and Broadway musical sensation, The Lion King. The award-winning hit musical now into its 21 years running globally ranks as one of the top most successful and longest running Broadway production, seen by over 95 million audiences around the world. His credits also include feature films including, The Lion King and Return To Pride Rock, The Power of One, Dinosaur, Back On The Block, The Life of Quincy Jones, Congo, Long Night’s Journey Into Day, Blended, Tears Of The Sun for Sony Pictures and The Legend Of Tarzan blockbuster in 2016.

As a businessman, Lebo M realized his dream by deal brokering and co-producing The Lion King South Africa in 2007, which shattered all theatre records and was seen by 550 000 people in South Africa, in its South African limited short run. In 2009 Lebo M was executive creative producer and composed music, performed and produced the opening and closing ceremonies of the FIFA Confederations Cup delivering a spectacle and showmanship, with a combined cast of over 1000 artists broadcast to a global television audience. This was followed, in 2010 when Lebo M was composer and co-executive producer of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, its first tournament in Africa in history.

The fall of 2014, saw Lebo M collaborate with long-time friend and Hollywood film composer Hans Zimmer as part of an allstar most successful film composer tour in history, including Pharrell Williams. Then in December of the same year, he was invited to perform as the first African artist at the HAVASI Symphonic Arena Show with 5 sold-out shows in Hungary and Romania.

In 2016/17, Lebo M featured as a special guest at the first ever Hans Zimmer Live world Tour, which travelled to 14 countries throughout Europe. In 2017 Lebo M also worked as co-producer of music and creative team member for the musical Sousatzka in Toronto, Canada.

Currently, Lebo M is focused on his childhood dream, the next mile stone following 20 years on Broadway, success with the Hans Zimmer Tour; film projects and many other achievements. Lebo M and partners have now committed to his much-anticipated world tour debut which will commence in 2023.
